Rocks and Stones

Just some work from last term

AleXsandro Palombo

The other day I stumbled across Italian artist, Alexsandro Palombo, and I really liked his tongue in cheek style of drawing. Some of his pictures are, er well... a little bit un-pc as more than once i've found a drawing of Anna Wintour and Carine Roitfeld in their underwear, but often they can be quite thought provoking. Here are some images I found of a fashion story starring Karl and the beautiful Paris. I love how Palombo has taken such a mundane event, riding the metro, and made a quirky little story out of it. There were a couple more pictures after these ones with aliens and UFO's, but I preferred the sans aliens one.

Tales of The City

Last night, after some deep thought, I managed to make the final decision on what book to choose for my project. Tales of The City by Armistead Maupin is a story about a girl, Mary Ann who moves to San Fransisco and then her life gets a bit crazy. Very vague description I know, but I haven't read it yet! All I know is that it became popular in 1993 when Channel 4 released a series based on Maupins books 'More Tales of The City' and 'Further Tales of The City', but I'm not going to watch them, not until I've read it anyway.

Teaser Pleaser

Today we've been set a project in uni where we have to design three movie posters based on a book, not any old book though or trust me new Harry Potter posters would be surfacing on this blog, but ones based on the reading list we've been given. There's different types of posters you can choose to do and I've narrowed it down to either a Character poster or a Teaser poster.

I'm leaning towards a teaser, like these 'Black Swan' posters featuring Natalie Portman.

Carbooty

This morning I was up at an ungodly hour, 5.45, to help my mother and sister with a carboot sale at the Dubai Flea Market and it was craaaazy. Lots of pushing, shoving and hair pulling. But at the end of the day, bar a couple of pairs of shoes, everything went and I mean everything! Yes- I even managed to flog two A Level P.E books to a Jordanian couple with a toddler and half the population of Dubai are now wearing black and orange sunglasses, as for some reason my dad has boxes and boxes of them lying around from the 80's.
So just before midday we returned home with our bags empty and our pockets full - an unusual turn of events, but not for long as we decided to take a trip to Mall Of The Emirates and I bought myself a new See By Chloe purse with my earnings.

Out with the old, in with the new!

Yves Saint Laurent

Everyone, say hello to my new Olive Calfskin Leather Muse Two YSL Satchel. Thank you Santa! Thank you!

Take those weapons off your feet!

This made me laugh, a guy at the airport was asked to remove his Christian Louboutin Rollerball Leather Slip Loafers (yea, they retail at 800 pounds). The security guards at the gate considered the spiked shoes to be a weapon and the passenger was asked to leave them behind. I'd probably leave myself behind with them!
