Tales of The City

Last night, after some deep thought, I managed to make the final decision on what book to choose for my project. Tales of The City by Armistead Maupin is a story about a girl, Mary Ann who moves to San Fransisco and then her life gets a bit crazy. Very vague description I know, but I haven't read it yet! All I know is that it became popular in 1993 when Channel 4 released a series based on Maupins books 'More Tales of The City' and 'Further Tales of The City', but I'm not going to watch them, not until I've read it anyway.

Teaser Pleaser

Today we've been set a project in uni where we have to design three movie posters based on a book, not any old book though or trust me new Harry Potter posters would be surfacing on this blog, but ones based on the reading list we've been given. There's different types of posters you can choose to do and I've narrowed it down to either a Character poster or a Teaser poster.

I'm leaning towards a teaser, like these 'Black Swan' posters featuring Natalie Portman.

S*UCY minx

After a long day at the office, aka Dubai Mall, Cecily, a photographer and myself hot footed it to S*UCE boutique in Dubai for a makeover party. We didn't actually get make overs as we were doing style hunter, photographing people and finding out where there outfits are from - like street style, but the people who did get one got a 50% discount on anything the bought. Which is pretty sweet. All in all it was a great event with heart shaped dishes filled with skittles and jelly beans scattered around the room, pink lemonade and chocolate eclairs with little phrases written on them.

Grazie Grazia!

This Christmas I have landed myself some work experience at Grazia magazine in Dubai, and let me tell you, it's no walk in the park. I've spent the past week shadowing the stylists assistant, Cecily, but next week i'm on my own! Although the job is long hours (well... 9-6 is long in my eyes) and the work speed is fast, i'm still loving every minute of it. On my second day we took a trip to Murdiff City Centre with a direct order to go into Versace and pick out at least forty items of clothing for a Versace spread. Then we had to bring all the clothes back to the studio hang them up and work with the photographer, photographing each item individually on a mannequin. After that we had to price all the items and write descriptions of each so as not to forget. I spend a lot of my time in the studio photographing clothes, but that's not my only job, as we're running Grazia Bahrain as well as Grazia Middle East I often have to call up stores in Bahrain asking for the price of an item in Bahrain dinar, but they never have a clue what I'm on about.

But i love it.
